Engineering the Future of Large-Volume Drug Delivery: How Collaborative Development of a 5.5 mL PFS and Coated Plunger Created a Breakthrough Solution

Date & Time April 27, 2026 • 2:00 PM
As the pharmaceutical industry shifts toward large-volume subcutaneous delivery, SCHOTT Pharma and Datwyler present a co-engineered platform combining SCHOTT's expanded syriQ BioPure® large-volume PFS with Datwyler's NeoFlex™ coated plunger technology. This session covers the key technical challenges addressed during development—including force requirements, dead space reduction, and dimensional precision—and explores how NeoFlex™ ultra-low extractables and leachables performance and reliable functionality have been extended into large-volume drug delivery. The presentation also examines critical component interactions at the syringe-plunger-device interface, and how each was optimized to ensure patient safety, drug efficacy, and reliable autoinjector performance.
